City tour – Etchmiadzin – Zvartnots - Ereván

City tour of Yerevan. It is a city founded in 782 B.C., being one of the oldest cities in the world.
Visit to the Republic Square which was designed by the traditional style of Armenian architecture and includes Government House, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Central Mail, National Art Gallery.
As a highlight, we climb the steps of the Cascada area to enjoy the panoramic view of the city and the mythical Mount Ararat will end up confirming our good start on a walking route through this beautiful country.
Departure to Echmiadzin which is only 20 km from Yerevan. Etchmiadzin Cathedral is known as the center of the Armenian Gregorian church, considered one of the first Christian churches in the world. Legend has it that Jesus Christ Himself showed His location. Built between the years 301 - 303 AD under the Armenian king Tiridates III and the first Catholic of Armenia, Saint Gregory the Illuminator. On the way back to Yerevan we will visit the ruins of the temple of Zvartnots. It is the pearl of 7th century architecture, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its construction began in 642 under the direction of the Catholic Nerses III, who built the majestic cathedral dedicated to Saint Gregory in the place where a meeting between King Trdat III and Gregory the Illuminator was supposed to take place.

Day 3
Erevan – Gueghard – Garni - Erevan

In the morning we walk to the monastery of Havuts Tar, xixiii century. It is an impressive walled monastery, half ruined and located a few kilometers from the temple of Garni. On the way we can admire the beauty of the "Symphony of stones", lava columns -basalt*. The canyon is located under the temple of Garni, dating from the 1st century A.D. On both sides of the canyon there are cliffs with well-preserved walls of basalt columns, which have arisen due to erosion of the Goght River. Next we walk to the pagan temple of Garni (1,300m), which dates from 66 AD, affected during an earthquake in 1679. It is a picturesque monument of the Hellenistic period and an impressive work of ancient Armenian architecture. It was built in the first century AD by the Armenian king Tiridates and is dedicated to a pagan god, probably Mithra, the sun god whose figure was on the sanctuary background. Departure to the Geghard Monastery, impressive complex with its plant partially hidden in the solid rock, as other points of the ancient history of Armenia, the structure shows us legends, relics and other attractions.
Lunch. During lunch in a local house we will see the elaboration of Armenian bread "lavash".

Day 4
Yerevan - Khor-Virap - Noravank - Goris
Breakfast
Departure to the monastery of Khor Virap ("deep well"), one of the most famous tourist destinations in Armenia. Khor Virap occupies a special place in the history of Armenia, mainly due to the legend of Saint Gregory the Illuminator, who was imprisoned for 13 years in the dungeon of Khor Virap before curing King Tiridates the Third of the disease, which paved the way for the acceptance of Christianity as the religion of the Armenian state in 301, becoming the first officially Christian country in the world. Continuation of the monastery Noravank - 12th century religious and cultural center. Noravank ("New Monastery") is 122km from Yerevan and is located in an inaccessible place that includes all the stunning nature. The monastery is located in the picturesque gorge of the tributary of the river Arpá, on a cliff between amazing red rocks that enchant with its beauty and uniqueness. The monastery of Noravank is included in the provisional list of UNESCO World Heritage in 1996.

Day 5
Goris – Ltsen – Tatev – Goris
Breakfast.
Early in the morning we leave for the village Ltsen. From here we walk through the oak forest.
Picnic lunch along the way. We descend from the other side of the hill to the village Tatev. Tatev Monastery (UNESCO World Heritage) is an architectural masterpiece dating back to the 10th century, and is often called the monastery built on the edge of nowhere.
Return to Goris.

Day 6
Goris - Khndzoresk – Karahunge - Yeghegnadzor
Breakfast.
Hike in Khndzoresk, a village of many old caves that are waiting to be discovered. You will see that many of the caves have been carved by people, which were houses for them. Here is the suspension bridge of Khndzoresk, which has a total length of 160 meters and rises 63 meters above the ground. Many travelers take advantage of hiking, as the area offers a beautiful natural scenery dotted with ruins, springs, churches and curious rock formations. We will continue our way to Karahunge, ancient observatory of 6 millennia BC. It is located at 1770m. Above sea level and occupies 7 hectares of territory. The monument consists of about 223 basalt slabs of which 84 have 4-5cm long openings in them. In 2001 in the vicinity of Karahunge many caves - paintings were discovered consisting of drawings that represent a great astronomical interest.

Day 7
Yeghegnadzor - Smbataberd - Yeghegnadzor
Breakfast.
Departure to the village Artabuynk. From here we walk to the monastery of Tsajats Kar, visit a church and cross stones. We descend to the fortress of Smbataberd. Smbataberd is a 10th-century fortress located at the top of the mountain range between Yeghegis and Artabunyk (formerly known as Alayaz), which includes a citadel and a monastery. The fortress is divided by a wall on the north and south sides, where the ruins of the houses and water pools are preserved. The water came from the natural nantials and canals of the nearby Tsajats Kar monastery.
We continue walking towards the village of Eghegis. The beautiful Eghegis Valley is surrounded by towering peaks and is home to many picturesque villages with medieval churches. Here we get on the bus and visit the Jewish cemetery.

Day 8
Yeghegnadzor - Armaghan - Sevan - Dilijan
Breakfast.
Early in the morning we leave for the village Madina. From here we start the trek to Mount Armaghan. Mount Armaghan is located in the Gegharkunik region. The altitude is 2,829 m. There is a lake at the peak of the mountain: diameter - 50 m, depth - 15 m. The mountain is a part of the Geghama Mountains. The volcanic crater of the peak is partially filled with water. This small lake is surrounded by alpine vegetation. From above we admire an amazing view of the lake and beautiful landscapes.
Picnic lunch along the way. We leave for the Sevan Lake, the world’s largest alpine. This huge mountain lake, which occupies 5% of Armenia’s surface area, is about 2,000 meters above sea level and is the second largest freshwater lake in the world. The monastery of the peninsula is the most popular place, and is the nearest place to visit. We left towards the forest region of Dilijan ("Small Switzerland of Armenia"), one of the most famous tourist resorts in Armenia. It is located basically in the forest, from all corners surrounded by the Dilijan National Park, which has a rich biodiversity, numerous mineral springs, as well as natural and cultural monuments.

Dilijan - Lago Parz – Goshavank - Erevan

Departure to the Lake Parz. Our trail starts from Lake Parz, a small picturesque lake in the highlands of Dilijan. From here we will walk through lush and dense forests, reaching the village Gosh. We finished our walk in the medieval monastery of Goshavank, comfortably installed on the right side of the river Getik. The monastery was an educational and spiritual center in medieval Armenia and is named after the celebrated Armenian scientist, author and legislator Mkhitar Gosh

Day 10
Mount Aragats –Ereván

In the morning we leave for the Lake Kari. We started hiking towards the southern peak above sea level of Monte Aragats, which with its 4,095 meters makes it the highest mountain in Armenia. Aragats is myth and reality, famous as the "double" of the other great mountain Ararat, even in the old days myths intertwine in the endless battle between the dragon that spits fire from these two imposing volcanoes. We descend to Lake Kari.
Return to Yerevan.
